Walsden Juniors had a busy day on Thursday 3rd April. In the morning the whole school did a sponsored skip. The school likes to have one big sponsored event each year and this year we decided to do it for a great cause- The British Heart Foundation. We raised lots of dosh for this good cause.
The year 6 boys had a football tournament at Todmorden sports centre in the afternoon against the other Todmorden schools. The event was organised by the JSLA’s at the High School. The event was very well organised, so well done to the students. Logan, Keenan, Isaac, Henry, Jack, Alex and Dylan played really well for the school but unfortunately came away empty handed. Well you can’t win them all lads.

Walsden were now in the final against Salterlee. The game started well with Ria giving their defence nightmares, in fact Megan overheard Salterlee saying that they had to do something about that number 10 (Ria)! The score at half time was 1-0. At half time Mrs Horsfall told the team that every ball counted and to run after everything. She told them to go for it because they were 7 minutes away from winning the trophy. Walsden needed to get another goal to be sure of victory so they passed well and worked hard to get the ball to Ria who scored another goal leaving it a tough hill to climb for Salterlee. The final score was 2-0 to Walsden.

Cross country success-
Best in Calderdale!!!
Four children from Walsden Juniors went to the Calderdale cross country finals on Saturday 26th April 2008 at Spring Hall,
The first race was year 3 girls, then year 3 boys. Next were year 4 girls then year 4 boys. The races followed this pattern up to year 6.
Ria Montgomery represented year 4 girls, Henry and Jim represented year 4 boys and finally Logan Montgomery represented the year 5 boys.
All the children put all their effort into their race but there was only two winners who were Ria and Henry. So Henry Antemes is the fastest year 4 boy in Calderdale and Ria Montgomery is the fastest year 4 girl. It must be something they put in the water in Walsden!!!
Ria and Henry triumphant!
