An Autumn Crosscountry challenge

We have recently gone crazy over crosscountry running! Lots of us just seem to love running long distances, and it is certainly a great way to improve stamina and develop muscle power.

Of course, Mrs Horsfall was very keen to make sure we were all prepared with the right footwear, clothing and enough water to see us through. Keeping hydrated (well-watered!) is really important in this sport, so always have a bottle to hand.

Another good tip: pace yourself!

There's no point in starting at a sprint, only to find at the first corner that you've run out steam!

Matthew & Logan were definitely up for the challenge!

Chloe has just joined our school - hope this gruelling run hasn't put her off!

In fact, she and Billie-Jo did particularly well out of the Year 6 girls.

Well done to Joshua and Sam who are still standing after their run - someone in the background looks a bit tired, though!

Many of the school's runners went on to represent the school in a local schools' Crosscountry Tournament in Todmorden, with lots of our pupils doing really well; many congratulations to all of you who took part.

A great run for Skye!

Matthew is seen here, bursting in to the finish!

Billie-Jo finishes just ahead of Chloe, who still seems to have the energy to smile!

And here they are: all our Walsden Junior runners, all the way from Year 3 up to Year 6

Well done to all of you!

The story continues...

Logan was so keen to run again, he wrote to Mr Ottley-O'Connor at the high school, asking for another race next year. Here is the response he received:
